Computair’s new sponsorship

In ongoing efforts to enhance our role in the wider community, and in addition to our support of Tring Rugby Union FC and Toddington Rovers FC, we are excited to announce our new sponsorship of Cardiff Met Women’s Rugby Club, one of the competitive sports clubs run by the Students Union at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Cardiff Met Women’s Rugby Club have won the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) championships 10 times, making them one of the most successful university sports teams of all time. Their 1st team competes in the Women’s National League, the highest standard of university rugby, and their 2nd team plays in the highly competitive Western 1A league.

Not only do many Cardiff Met players go on to represent their regions of England and Wales whilst studying, the club has also nurtured several international players, most famously Olympian Jaz Joyce, as well as Gwen Crabb, Caitlin Lewis, Lleucu George, Alex Callender and head coach (and former Cardiff Met alumna) Lisa Newton. In addition, the club has players involved in the Allianz Premier 15s, the top tier of the women’s English rugby union domestic league system.

Computair’s co-founder, Nigel Taffs, was a keen rugby player in his youth, whilst one of our senior developers has a daughter who currently plays for Cardiff Met Women’s team, so the sponsorship seemed like a good fit for Computair. It’s a privilege for us to be associated with the Club, which offers students the opportunity of playing high-performance rugby and the possibility of progression within the sport.
